We were so lucky to be awarded a Target Library Makeover at Lewis and Clark Elementary. We were given $1500 to spend toward books to purchase from First Book Marketplace, some wonderful floor lamps to enhance our reading area, contact paper to cover the paperback books we purchased with the grant and a Kodak Easy Share digital camera with video capabilities which will be a HUGE enhancement to our library programs. Plus, today volunteers from Target joined us for about 4 hours today to help laminate the paperback books, put the lamps together and give the teacher-librarian a tutorial on using the new digital camera. :)
Several classes of students stopped by to say thank you and some, including Mrs. McGuire's 3rd graders, Miss Gonzalez's 1st graders, Mrs. MacPhee's 1st graders and Mrs. Tiffany's Kindergarteners sang songs, wrote letters and/or made signs to say thanks. We also had many teachers and staff members stop in to let Target know how much we appreciated them doing all of that for our school! The volunteers promised to come back and read some of the donated books on one of our reading nights too. They were a fun group and all really worked hard to help us get those books ready for check out! Thanks Target!
